STEPPING STONES IS CREATING a safe and enriching space to transform the lives of young people in our valley.

Adolescence can be one of the most difficult and challenging phases of life. Every day youth face choices about education, relationships, identity, drugs and alcohol. These pressures lead many youth to feel isolated and in need of guidance that is not easily found.

Stepping Stones provides a safe place where young people can go to get the support and guidance they need. Help us build a safety net for community youth by supporting our campaign.

Stepping Stones operates two adjacent youth facilities within walking distance of Carbondale schools. We meet the needs of youth and families by providing:

  • One-on-one mentoring

  • Nightly home-cooked dinners

  • Educational support

  • Access to counselors

  • Job readiness training & job placement

  • Experiential learning to build resilience

  • Shower and laundry facilities

Our new facility will include a wellness center to improve youth’s social, emotional, mental, and physical health, and a large kitchen, capable of preparing hot meals to nourish all our participants.

We plan to renovate our 5,000 square foot commercial building in Carbondale and connect it with our 2,500 square foot adjacent house. This will create an integrated space designed specifically for our youth.

Together, we will build a community hub that provides additional resources for young people and their families.

To accomplish our goal, we ask you to contribute towards our goal of raising $550,000. Thus far, we have raised $430,000. Donations will pay for renovations to our Carbondale centers and campaign cost.

Your gift will transform hundreds of young lives over the next decade. Our life-changing spaces and mentoring program creates stepping-stones for youth to rise above adversity and find belonging and personal growth that will last a lifetime.

Support our commitment to transform young lives through strong mentoring relationships in a space designed specifically for youth.

In 2014, an extraordinary person with deep understanding and compassion for children stepped forward and donated the use of a house in Carbondale. This became Stepping Stones' first center. Through partnership with families and schools, we created a place for teens to go in the afternoon and evenings to connect with positive adult role models. As the need for our services grew, we extended our programming to middle schoolers in 2018. Thanks to the generosity and loyalty of a few valued donors we grew our resources to serve this younger population by acquiring commercial space next to our teen house.

As our program has grown, our dream has grown as well. With thoughtful planning and input from stakeholders, we envision upgrading and integrating our two Carbondale facilities. This will allow us to increase our capacity and functionality to empower young people for years to come.
